When I dropped Kenton off at his Cub Scout meeting Thursday night, I noticed my friend's newly finished bathroom. I've been hating our powder room ever since we moved in 6 years ago and was motivated to GET IT DONE NOW! (I know, it's really bad isn't it. I can't believe I left it so long.)
Amy recently posted about painting wood with the new Behr paint & primer in one stuff. And I remembered that Camille had some wonderful paint colors and kindly put the chip names in her FAQ, so I gathered a list and Becket and I went shopping Friday morning.
By Friday afternoon I had broken the top of the toilet back and sliced my hand open on the super sharp porcelain. I put steri-strips on my hand, (I have a mini ER in my bathroom closet. Have to with three boys) But everything was nearly done!
I hadn't even mentioned any of this to my husband, so he was a bit surprised when he got home. Being a tiny powder room, I just couldn't get a good picture. So these will have to do to give a hint of the before and after. I totally love it.

Congratulations on getting the job done!
Looks great! I was a bit worried when I saw the first photo and thought that was what you had painted. I could not figure out how someone who designs such beautiful quilts would like a green sponged wall.
BTW, I am always doing stuff like that when the husband is gone. He never knows what he will be walking home to.
The white makes it look bigger and brighter. Great job!
Oooh I hope your hand's healing well!! The bathroom looks so much nicer with the new paint job! I've hated our kitchen cabinets since we moved in and I'm dying to paint them white... I just have to muster the strength to do it hehe
I love the new color! Jon's going to paint my sewing room/office and our living room as a Christmas present and I can't wait!
Looks like a new room!
this looks amazing. go you!!!
The bathroom looks great! I also had a run in with a toilet and ended up in the ER. The cut was deep and the piece that got me was from a dirty part of the old toilet. I hadn't had a tetnus shot since the 20th century so I thought I had better have it seen by a professional. Five stitches later I was back home breaking up what was left of the old toilet and carrying it to the trash.
wow! it looks so much better!
wow! what a great job! but....so sorry about the injuries! I've said many times...homemaking is a dangerous sport!
When you paint, you really paint! It looks great.
I have a bathroom like that one! That gives me confidence to get my dark cabinet painted out. I'm in the One Block Over Bee and am making my way around to everyone's blogs to see who does what. EVERYONE but me seems to be an experienced quilter! I'm very excited about it all. -- michele
Luv, luv the new look! Are you going to paint the mirror too?
As for er's, med kits and boys...there is a very good reason I'm first aid for our basketball team...lol...lots of practice!
Heal up and stay safe!
That looks great! I love the white cabinets. I really need to paint my kitchen cabinets, they are a veryt dark dark color and the room doesn't get much light either. Great job!!
You did it! Good for you. (Sorry about the injury though.)
The room looks GREAT! Amazing what a little can of paint can do.
Nice job! Thanks for sharing on the Behr paint, I hadn't heard that it was good for wood. I think I have the same exact knobs in your before shot in two of my bathrooms. Looks like I should update too! Hope your cut heals fast!!
