shoo fly pie...errr...try

Is shoo fly pie even good?  I've never had it, but I'm trying to eat healthy before I'm in a swimsuit in Hawaii, so of course, pie is on my mind!

I finished all four of my super huge shoo fly blocks yesterday, but I'm not sure.   The lemons seemed a little out of place for some reason.  Although I like how it looks in a thumbnail.

I may replace it with a block made from the lime dandelions - second from the left.  At least I'm busting more stash :)

I see what you mean - it does look good in the thumbnail, but probably stands out in real life - it's the only one that's not a graphic. My feeling is that if you don't like it now, you won't like it in the future - change it quick so you can enjoy the quilt for a long time! IMHO..... I do like the way yours is turning out, though - you were braver than I am, using different color backgrounds. Mine is all one color backing. Good luck!

Yes, Shoo Fly pie is really good. My hubby is PA Dutch and it is a staple kind of dessert. Lots of molasses and great crust. Delicious! Your Shoo Fly blocks are kind of delicious in their own way. Love how they are turning out.

I like both fabrics. But, it's easier to swap out now than later!

The hugeness of this is happily awesome!

I see what you mean... they do tend to jump out! Is it because they are the only non-geometrical print? And yes, Shoo Fly pie is very good :)

Hi again! How are you planning to quilt yours? I'm looking at mine trying to figure out the best way and would love to compare notes!

I've never had the pie, but love your blocks! This pattern is in my to do file. I'm sure you'll make the best decision on the fabrics. I like them as is. You can always make two!

Shoo fly pie is my dad's favorite dessert, me... I could take it or leave it.

I agree about changing the lemons, It just doesn't seem to go with all the graphics of the others.

I love your fabric choices on these...

Stay away from ShooFly Pie unless you are fully prepared for the consequences of trying it. :-)

I'm so interested to see this quilt when it's done! How big is it going to be? Was it hard sewing those big pieces together?
